CADET TRAINING SCHEME
The cadets' training are divided into the following phases :
- Pre-Board training
This will generally involve the completion of the various required STCW 95 training courses as well as vessel specific courses i.e. tanker courses - Oil/Chem/LPG/LNG as applicable.
This phase will also involve modular courses on :
- Basic leadership course
- Teambuilding
- Communication
- On Board Training
During this period , the ISF Training record book shall be the guidance of the senior officers for the cadet training program
This shall be faithfully followed to ensure that the
cadet has a good and all-around training while on board
and doing his sea time.
This is also the time that the school sea projects are completed and should be monitored by the assigned officer on the cadets.
- Post Sea-Time Training
Cadets who are returning to school will need to adhere to their school requirements both on the academics and additional training requirements in order to be eligible for graduation.
Cadets who are not returning to school but will need to take the Licensure Board Examination for the Operational level officers certification will need both to finish their review lessons to take the Licensure Board Examinations.
- Pre-Officers Assignment Training
Cadets who have successfully graduated and passed the Licensure Board Examination and are earmarked to join as junior officers are again put on a Pre-Officers Assignment training program.
These are modular courses that will both address the technical training and behavioral training before a new young officer is deployed to his assigned ship.
